This is a really special piece.  An important painting to me.  Both for the use of color and light, and also for the sentiment.  I worked with a slightly more limited palette than is typical for me.  In order to keep things simple and clean and open.  And I tried to capture a calming sense of soft light.  What pleases me most, though, is the overall feel and part of that relates to the words.  There is a single sentence painted in tiny black letters in the lower right that reads, "Nature's rhythms are curative."  Because I think the changing of the seasons and the lapping of waves and the setting and rising of the sun are all natural rhythms that pull us out of our imagined troubles and into our true selves.  Nature heals us.

I am hopeful this comforting little landscape brings a bit of natural healing to your home or office.

How Tidal Pull was created.....   After the black gesso primer dried, I used my fingers and a soft cloth to dab on bits of color here and there.  Then I used wide soft brushes to apply transparent washes of layered color.  Next, I used tiny detail brushes to create the tranquil scene and to add the lines and the words.

Tidal Pull was painted on a lightly textured masonite panel.  The edges of the panel have been painted black, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
