Tonight did not scan well.  It is much more lovely in person.  The colors are deeper.  Even so, I think the scans at least offer you a glimpse of the magic found in this fun landscape.  It is a peaceful night scene with a dynamic composition and one big glowing moon keeping watch over the world.  There is a single sentence painted in small blue letters near the bottom of the image that reads, "Listen to the moon tonight."  Because I think nature always knows what we need.  I never get lost when I listen to the sky.  To my heart.

I am hopeful this starry night will bring you a bit of courage and faith.  So that you can find you own moonlit path and not look back.

How Tonight was created.....   Once the black gesso primer dried, I used my fingers to push acrylic modeling paste into beautiful naturally irregular ridges.  These became the three-dimensional lines that define this piece.  The entire tree is raised slightly from the surface as are the lines that mark the rolling hills and the path and the bright plump moon.  Once that layer dried, I used my fingers to move paint from my palette to the canvas.  I mixed colors by patting the canvas gently with my fingertips - like playing a drum.  This process provided some nice organic textures.  After the entire piece was painted in this manner and had dried, I used tiny detail brushes to add key highlights and lowlights and to paint the words.

Tonight was painted on a rigid canvas panel.  The edges have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
