This is a beautiful fresh abstract filled with softly layered
colors. It is a soothing painting. I love how the hues
and lines balance each other in this one. It also continues my
interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art with two phrases
painted in tiny letters in two different areas of the painting.
At the top there is a single sentence that reads, "Miracles most
often occur during times of transition." And then at the
bottom is the simple sentence, "Stay open." I created this piece to capture a lesson that I have learned and relearned many times in my life. A lesson that I need to be reminded of on a regular basis. The lesson is this... Nature always balances everything. And we have to keep transitioning from one life to another, from one version of ourselves to another, from one level of consciousness to another. We have to keep adjusting to the changing world around us. Because we are a part of nature's balancing act. And life is easiest on those who are flexible. Who accept the necessity of change and embrace the unknown. Life is easiest on the folks who are able to keep their hearts open even during difficult and confusing times. I would like for this striking abstract to bring comfort and hope and courage to some other vulnerable soul out there who struggles with this lesson as I do. How Transitions was created..... Gouache is like watercolor, only it is opaque rather than transparent. I use this media in much the same manner that I use acrylics. The difference is that these colors can be blended with water and are capable of much softer, more gradual transitions. This media is also less forgiving than traditional acrylic paint and requires more forethought and more patience. Transitions was painted on acid-free heavy weight paper. You will want to frame this piece to protect your investment. To frame your new painting affordably, you can pick up a ready-made frame at your local home or discount store and then bring the frame with the painting to a custom-framer. The framer can mat the painting to fit the frame. *** Please note: Water based media like gouache can bleed slightly at the edges. I do my very best to keep the edges spotless, but there may be some slight staining just outside the picture field. That is one reason why watercolor and gouache paintings are traditionally matted before framing. To cover any bleeding along the edges.
