Who decides what matters?  Who makes the rules?  We all get so caught up in progress and accomplishments and getting ahead that we forget to feel.  To feel what it means to be alive.  To feel blessed.  To feel grateful.  To feel pain and joy and light and warmth and sorrow.  Living is what matters.  Being.  Not achieving, not proving.

We are natural animals and we belong outside in natural light.

If you spend too many hours each day in man-made light doing frivolous things, I hope this small green painting will bring a bit of peace and perspective to your home or office.  I hope it will help keep you grounded.

How The Real World was painted.....   After the black acrylic gesso primer dried, I used palette knives to create a colorful textured underpainting filled with bright reds and greens.  Then I scraped the colors and textures off three small "window" areas.  Once that dried, I used a variety of brushes, my fingers, paper towels, and a soft cloth to build up the glowing rich greens.  Finally, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the scenes and the lines and the words.  The symbolic leaves that balance each of the side windows are my favorite part of this special treat.

The Real World was created on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas.  The staple-free sides have been painted.  This piece looks wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

Business is just fancy entertainment.

The real world is outside.

We belong in nature.
