I love this piece!  I hope to continue with this theme and create a small series of geometric abstracts in this same vein.

This painting is unusual for me in several ways.  For one, I almost never use obvious pattern like I have in this piece.  Another unusual thing is the very active complicated composition.  This piece was inspired by my urban surroundings.  So often, I paint the natural landscapes that I crave and neglect the actual landscapes I see each day.  But there are moments of beauty in the city!  And on good days, I notice a gorgeous mosaic of bold colors in my urban environment.  I tried to capture the carnival-like atmosphere of an urban area filled with brightly colored cars and advertisements and street signs and such.  I consider this to be one of the happier pieces I have painted recently and I am hopeful the lively colors will bring a bit of festive urban energy to your home or office.

How Urban Living (on a Good Day) was painted.....   This is a traditional brush painting with countless layers of color.  I worked on this piece off-and-on for several weeks.

Urban Living (on a Good Day) was created on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas.  The staple-free sides have been painted.  This piece looks wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.
