Unavoidable

This is a really striking image. The colors are so deep! And the textures are so natural and so visceral. This painting is like an over-ripe fruit. A sweet powerful fruit. And those luscious hearts... oh! The words in this piece read, "Love is unavoidable." Because vulnerability and desire are a part of the human condition. Hearts are messy unpredictable beasts and no matter how our nice orderly brains might like to believe we can control everything, the truth is that love happens and it rarely makes sense and it simply cannot be argued with.

I am hopeful this bold treat will warm the home of some other wild heart out there.

How this original work of art was created..... This piece has a little of everything happening. There is palette knife painting and brush painting and finger-painting and painting done with crumpled up paper towels. There are areas built up with modeling paste and areas where I abraded the surface with dental tools and areas where I cleared all of the textures away entirely. There is tight detailed work with fine lines and sharp highlights and there is bold loose expressionist work with wonderful timeless energy.

Unavoidable was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
