Unusual

I am so fond of this pretty winged creature. She makes me happy every time I see her. With her big beautiful eyes and her bold bright colors. And all that lush loose expressive painting.

The words in this piece are subtly tucked into the painting just above the animal's head. They read: I work my own brand of magic. Because this girl defies definition. She is not a sheep or a goat or a fairy or an Angel. She is what she is. And she is Unusual. I hope this vibrant energizing image brings happiness and humor to the home of some fellow oddball out there. Some other Unusual soul. And I hope she inspires you to work YOUR own brand of magic, too.

How Unusual was created... Oh I had so much fun painting this piece! This is about half palette knife painting and half traditional brushwork. I put the finishing touches on (and added the words) using tiny 18/0 details brushes.

(The staple-free sides have been painted black so you can display your new artwork unframed. This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

This image was painted on a huge 16" x 20" gallery-wrapped canvas with staple-free sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.
