Do you folks remember my Four Corners series?  I miss that series!  And I have been longing to work this way for a long time.  You can expect more of these fun expressive paintings in the future.  Here, the emphasis is on color and layers and how the lines relate to each other.  No one stripe in this painting would look as it does without the colors on either side.  They exist in relation to each other.  Blue next to purple looks very different than the same shade of blue shown next to orange.

Isn't that true with people, too?

The words in this image read:  We are all necessary.  Our differences are necessary, too.

How Variety was created.....   I used palette knives and brushes to bring this one to life.  Because I allowed each layer to dry fully before applying the next, this painting took several days to complete.

Variety was painted on a gorgeous panel of Belgian linen bonded with traditional rabbit-skin glue to a ¼” thick piece of masonite. The linen was primed with top-grade, old school gesso. It is the perfect surface for detailed painting. The texture of linen is so much finer than canvas.

The sides of the panel have been painted black.

Variety can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.  Or is can be displayed on a small decorative easel or plastic stand.

We are all necessary.

Our differences are necessary, too.
