Oh these colors!  Man alive these colors are bold.  They make my teeth ache.  Like an ice cream sunday.  Such a treat.  This is a beautiful piece to see in person and it will be even more lovely once it is framed.  I highly recommend framing this one with a simple white mat and an understated molding because these colors do not need any help at all.  Just let them sing all on their own.

Those pumpkins make me happy, too.  I wish we really did have village elders.  Wouldn't that be nice?  These three look like an interesting panel, don't they?  I imagine they squabble a bit, but I would still be happy to consult them before making big decisions.

How this drawing was created.....   First, I used artists markers filled with colored India ink to create a vivid underpainting.  Then I used oil pastels to layer luscious colors atop that base.  Oil pastels are a bit tricky to work with.  Some colors cover others, some remove the layer below them, and some mix with the colors below.  So it takes lots of experience to learn the ins and outs of layering oil pastel colors.  After I completed all of the color work, I used a dental tool to scratch through to the ink below in order to create sharper edges.

Village Elders was drawn on acid-free white mat board.  You will want to frame this fabulous piece to protect your investment.  One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer.  Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
