Water Tower

Completed in 2006

3.5" x 5"

Oil pastel over ink, on heavy acid-free paper

(Enlarged to show details.  Below the drawing are my initials, the year "2006", and the name of the town, "Kimball, Minnesota".)

This was drawn in Kimball, Minnesota.  My Mother and her Mother were both born in the same house in Kimball.  They were delivered by the same Doctor, too.  It is a quiet, sleepy farm town with lovely rolling hills and dark fertile soil.  I was lucky to be there at sunset and to capture this peaceful scene.

How Water Tower was created.....   I pulled over to the side of the road and sketched this image with a fine-tipped black pen.  I made sure to capture the shadows and sense of fading light, too.  Later, I filled the image out with colored inks and then finished it with a top layer of oil-pastels to give it that soft glowing feel.

Water Tower was drawn on acid-free, heavy, white watercolor paper.  You will want to frame this lovely drawing to protect your investment.  One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer.  Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
