This painting is such a delight!  So unexpected.  I am just thrilled that this beautiful rat came to visit my work.  This piece has gorgeous colors and textures and fine crisp details.  But most importantly it has that great rat!  White rats have been seen as a good omen in many cultures around the world and throughout history.  They represent good fortune, wisdom and wealth.  Rats remind me that life is all about your perspective.  Where one person might see only garbage, a rat may see a bountiful feast.  Rats teach me to be resourceful and to be grateful.

I am hopeful this bold, engaging image will bring you abundance and a positive perspective.

How White Rat was created.....   After the black gesso primer dried, I used a palette knife to apply modeling paste and create the richly textured underpainting.  Then I applied layer after layer of deep earthy tones, also with palette knives.  I used a soft damp cloth to rub colors on and off of the "window" area.  Once all of that work had dried, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the many accent lines and the distinctive rat and the word "Abundance."

White Rat was painted on a rigid canvas panel.  The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.

Abundance.
