Mmmm... this painting is sweet and calming and soft. With such lovely colors. And that beautiful hopeful dove flying blind. Flying on faith. The words in this piece read, "Use your wings." Because we all come equipped with them. Wings are standard issue. Maybe not flesh and blood ones. But certainly we have spiritual wings. Emotional wings. Imagination. Dreams. We always have tools to reach for the sky. To create a better life. To dream bigger. Let go of your heavy baggage and take flight. It is time to use your wings. How Wings was created..... After the black gesso primer dried, I applied a think texturing gel to the area that would become the land. That part of the painting is raised visibly from the surface of the canvas. After that layer dried, I used palette knives and dry brushes to create the rich colorful landscape. I allowed most of the layers to fully dry before applying others. That is why you see those distinct edges between colors. Once all of those vibrant layers dried, I used tiny 18/0 detail brushes to paint the sweet dove and the words. Wings was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.
