MY REACTION: You just never know when it comes to matters of the heart. CONTENT: A lovely little bat for you. A fresh new start. A simple floating heart. A second chance Bats are a symbol of rebirth in many Native traditions. ABOUT TINY ART: I bought a set of three tiny paintings about 15 years ago and I have been passionate about tiny art ever since. I love the intimacy of holding a work of art in the palm of my hand. I love how tiny art draws you in, begging to be studied. Whispering its story quietly to one viewer at a time. There is just something magical about tiny art.
In the Summer of 2004, I began
creating a series of 1,000 unique miniature paintings, drawings, and
sculptures. Each piece in the series is numbered, signed and dated.
The subject matter runs the gamut, but I do expect to see all of my
common themes appearing in miniature. Hopefully, I will discover
some new directions as well. The only parameters that I have set are
maximum dimensions of 3.5” square. Each of these pieces is a unique, hand-made, original work of art. As with my traditional work, I pay very close attention to composition, color use, line quality and lighting. I have not compromised my commitment to quality in any way. I have simply traded my usual brushes for really teeny ones and I am using some magnifying tools to keep me from going blind. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: This is a mixture of knife painting and traditional brush painting with layers of color and some fine detail work. Lots of expressive little surprises in this one. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This piece is on a small masonite panel. The sides are unfinished. It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass. This one also shows well on a small display stand.
