MY REACTION:  An awkward leap.  My life is a series of awkward leaps.  Sometimes they end badly.  Sometimes I twist around just right and manage to stick the landing.

CONTENT:  Color!  This one is all about the painting and the colors.  Not so much about content.  This is a fun bright splurge for your eyes.

ABOUT TINY ART:  I bought a set of three tiny paintings about 15 years ago and I have been passionate about tiny art ever since. I love the intimacy of holding a work of art in the palm of my hand. I love how tiny art draws you in, begging to be studied. Whispering its story quietly to one viewer at a time. There is just something magical about tiny art.

In the Summer of 2004, I began creating a series of 1,000 unique miniature paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Each piece in the series is numbered, signed and dated. The subject matter runs the gamut, but I do expect to see all of my common themes appearing in miniature. Hopefully, I will discover some new directions as well. The only parameters that I have set are maximum dimensions of 3.5” square.
These tiny pieces do not have traditional titles, only numbers. And I will not be writing about each individual piece as extensively as I do with my larger sized work. I want to be able to offer these pieces as affordably as possible, so I am cutting out some of the "frills".

Each of these pieces is a unique, hand-made, original work of art. As with my traditional work, I pay very close attention to composition, color use, line quality and lighting. I have not compromised my commitment to quality in any way. I have simply traded my usual brushes for really teeny ones and I am using some magnifying tools to keep me from going blind.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is a mixture of knife painting and traditional brush painting with layers of color and some fine detail work.  Lots of expressive little surprises in this one.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece is on a small masonite panel.  The sides are unfinished.  It can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.  This one also shows well on a small display stand.

SPECIAL NOTE:  This site is gigantic.  And it evolved over the course of ten years and 2,000 paintings.  So far as I know, this is the largest single-artist portfolio website on the internet.  Very exciting, but I am a technological boob and I maintain this site all by myself.  That means there are glitches here and there.  Some pages are outdated.  Some formatting looks out of whack on different browsers.  You get the idea.  I apologize if you run into problems.  PLEASE email me and tell me about 'em so I can fix them.  Thank you!  Love to you, Melissa
