Mama. This painting feels almost mythic to me. Perhaps because of the symbolism and psychology and all that. Love, nurturing, parents, children, safety, contentment, trust, bonding, family, vulnerability, innocence. Or perhaps this piece just feels monumental because it is one of the largest pieces I have ever created. This painting has been in progress for a very long time and I am amazed to see it finished. I hope you like it. Please email me if you have feedback. There are details in this piece, swatches of color, loose confident applications, that would not have been possible for me even a year ago. I did not trust myself enough then. To be so bold. To be a painter. With all that is in me. I thank my benefactors for their patience with this one.
