About this painting: This piece was commissioned in memory of a fabulous house bunny named Johnny.  He was a much-loved friend to a customer of mine named Diane.  And every photo she sent me of Johnny showed him fat and happy and spoiled rotten the way all living things should be but very few are.  He was a beautiful plush rabbit with a big presence.  And intelligent eyes.

In the photo that I used for a reference here, Johnny was eating freshly washed mixed greens off a pretty plate in the middle of a nice carpeted room.  And when I thought about those freshly washed greens and that pretty plate and Johnny's so-soft pristine white fur and how Diane wrote about her friend, I was deeply moved.  I felt Johnny and the love he gave and received.  I felt that love the whole time I worked on this painting and it was humbling.  A moving reminder of what art is for.  To mark the important stuff.  To glimpse what is real.  Love.  Like freshly washed mixed greens for a big beautiful rabbit.  Just like that.
