This pic is a scanned image and I think it is the best digital representation I can manage, but it still does not do this piece justice.  This artwork is noticeably textured.  The light reflecting off the textures does NOT affect our eyes and we see the painting with uninterrupted color when viewing it in person.  But digital images show too much reflection, so it is hard to give you an accurate view.  Here is a digital photo of the same painting taken in bright sunlight...

Dark colors are still colors.  Sometimes colors are even richer and more exciting when viewed in low light. 

I have spiders taking over my basement.  This is my offering to the spider Gods.  Also, I like the oddballs who perform in dark corners versus up in the spotlight, you know?

About this painting:  This image is titled, "Spider".  This is an acrylic painting on a stretched canvas.  Measuring approximately 6" x 6".  There ARE staples on the sides of this canvas, but the are entirely covered over with paint and texture and they do not detract.  This piece could be displayed unframed just as it is.
