About this painting: Sadness
and unexpected loss. A dreamer forced from her dream to face
the unimaginable. Jennifer Hudson's tragedy makes me terribly
sad. For her. And for all of us. That such things
happen in our world. That one shining girl could not ascend in
uncomplicated joy. This painting is both my attempt to capture
this sorrow and also my small offering of comfort to survivors
everywhere.
Jennifer is not alone. Many of us join her in songs of
mourning.
You might think it depressing to display such an
image in your home or office, but I am not so sure. I think
moments of shared sorrow bring us all closer. And art that
evokes tragedy can be just as cathartic and satisfying as art that
evokes joy or comedy. All part of the grand scope of human
drama. The richness of souls evolving. Even in times of
pain.
Note: Some of the
illustration board
paintings do have stray bits of paint in the margins outside the
picture plain. These will generally not show once you have the
piece matted, but if you are one of those folks who like pristine
unmarked white, you may want to stick with the canvas paintings.
